Stargazer Wines pays homage to the explorer Abel Tasman, the first European to sight Tasmania in 1642. For the founder, a New Zealander turned Tasmanian devotee, this connection is deeply personal. Working with pristine fruit in such a stunning environment has been a dream come true.

Sam's journey began with a simple purchase: a case of Tamar Ridge Riesling. This sparked a love for wine that led to vintages in Oregon, Australia, Italy, and Spain. With over fifteen years of experience, including a decade as Senior Winemaker at Wirra Wirra Vineyards, the transition to Tasmania was a natural progression. Samantha Connew's commitment to excellence is evident in every bottle, from her involvement as a wine show judge to serving on various wine boards.

Located in the Tea Tree subregion of the Coal River Valley, the vineyard, known as Palisander, spans eleven hectares with a mix of Riesling, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and more. Sustainable farming practices are a cornerstone, with sheep for weed control, free-ranging chickens, and bees for pollination. Over 1000 native species have been planted to enhance biodiversity.
