Basket Range Bantam Merlot Blend 2022

Sholto Broderick's 2022 Bantam is a delicate blend of Merlot and Petit Verdot, macerated with whole bunches and gentle handling to enhance lifted fruit and spice from the stalks. Blended with small amounts of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, it showcases juicy soft plums, white pepper, and graphitic tannin, with a savoury, highly drinkable quality. Designed for early drinking, it's best served chilled for a refreshing experience.

In the late 1970s, Phillip Broderick, a lawyer by trade, purchased a property in Basket Range, Adelaide Hills, and planted a small vineyard with Bordeaux varieties. Alongside his wife Mary, they raised their sons, Louis and Sholto, on the vineyard. In 2016, Sholto took over, managing the now 4-hectares of vines, organically cultivating Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, a small amount of Saperavi (but mostly Chardonnay).
