Yalumba The Steeple Shiraz 2022

Nestled beneath the steeple of Light Pass's Immanuel Lutheran Church, these magnificent old Shiraz vines have been doing their thing since 1919. Biodynamically grown and naturally low-yielding, they produce fruit with remarkable concentration, depth and personality. The nose is beautifully expressive, with fragrant potpourri, ripe red berries and a tempting whisper of savoury spice. On the palate, juicy cranberry, redcurrant and dark cherries mingle with richer notes of mulberry and dark chocolate. There's a lovely earthy undertone, with hints of cedar and fine spice adding another layer of intrigue. Generous and beautifully textured, the fruit is wrapped in long, flowing tannins that give this wine its unmistakable elegance. Rich without being heavy-handed, powerful without showing off- this is old-vine Barossa Shiraz with serious class. An absolute beauty today, with the depth and structure to become something even more extraordinary with time.
