William Downie Camp Hill Pinot Noir 2025

Single vineyard Pinot Noir from 30 year old vines in the Camp Hill vineyard. Aromas of raspberry and redcurrant with dried rose petal and wattle. The palate has a serious undertone of blue and red fruit, savoury almond, broth and stony minerality.

Critics thoughts -  This is a single site, planted in 1998. Gippsland locale. Volcanic, rocky soils in this place.  Peppery and herbal, red fruited, some cola notes, new leather, sour-sweet cherry, tart, little, black plums, some faint mint and eucalyptus characters, a bit of paperbark, sandalwood and sweet earthiness too. Tightly strung on sinewy, silty tannins and all feels quite compact, gossamer textured, and lingering with peppery spice and dried mushroom characters. A very proper wine.  95 points Mike Bennie The Wine Front
