West Cape Howe Old School Chardonnay
This Chardonnay is like a warm hug in a glass — rich, creamy, and full of character. Sourced from specific blocks in the Langton and Karri Oak vineyards in Mount Barker, it’s picked a little later than their Styx Gully Chardonnay to produce a fuller style. The wine underwent barrel fermentation and maturation in French oak, with 20% new oak, for 8 months. Two of those months were spent on lees with fortnightly stirring, and it went through full malolactic fermentation to produce a textured, full-flavoured style Chardonnay. Expect aromas of ripe peach and apricot, complemented by hints of honeycomb, crème brûlée, and citrusy nougat. The palate is rich and creamy, with flavours of vanilla bean custard, peaches, and white nectarine. It’s a wine that’s soft, rich, and toasty, with no sharp edges — like silky smooth velvet.
