Vanguardist Le Marx Riesling

This “Le Marx” Riesling from Vanguardist is like a salty breeze through a terraced Clare Valley vineyard—earnest, energetic and elegantly quirky. Pale straw in the glass, it greets you with brine-tinged green apple, grapefruit pith and a whisper of honeyed chamomile. The palate is lithe yet layered, sporting chalky minerality, fine tannic grip from full malolactic, and lees-derived roundness that glides across the tongue. Subtle savoury notes—nutty, oyster shell-like, with a flicker of leatherwood honey—lend unorthodox charm. Bottled without fining or filtration, with only minimal sulphur, it’s tactile, savoury, and utterly in tune with its Polish Hill terroir.
