Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto 2023

The little brother to Sassicaia..

In their words - Guidalberto della Gherardesca, an ancestor to remember

A SIMILAR GENESIS TO SASSICAIA

Guidalberto marks the beginning of the new millennium: the 2000 vintage was released after more than twenty years of experimentation.

The label features the Oratory of San Guido, and the wine is named after Guidalberto della Gherardesca, an ancestor who pioneered agricultural transformation in the Bolgheri area. In the early decades of the 1800s, Guidalberto built the first mills and churches, as well as the now-famous Viale dei Cipressi. The tall, upright cypress trees were initially planted to delineate boundaries between different crops; their ornamental value was recognised only later.

Following more than two decades of analysis and experimentation, today Guidalberto—a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot—seeks aromatic richness and softness on the palate, qualities that Merlot can impart even with relatively short ageing.

“It offers full, satisfying drinkability. Its complexity and structure give it remarkable potential for long-term ageing and refinement.”

Carlo Paoli, Head of Winemaking at Tenuta San Guido.
