Stargazer Kura Shiraz Pinot Noir 2023

70% Shiraz and 30% Pinot Noir. Aromatic and spicy aromas greet the nose, featuring roasted blueberries, dried cherries, and hints of violet florals. On the palate, flavors of Chinese five spice and Sichuan pepper unfold, complemented by fine feathery tannins and abundant generous fruitiness. The wine finishes with the trademark bright freshness characteristic of Tasmanian wines. This first release is sourced from the Tamar Valley and a vineyard just outside of Richmond in the Coal River Valley. The Shiraz was destemmed, while the Pinot Noir remained as whole bunches, and both were co-fermented. After a three-day cold soak, wild fermentation with indigenous yeasts began, followed by pressing after seven days. The wine was then racked off gross lees to 25% new French oak puncheons, where it spent seven months on fine lees before bottling.
