Sorrenberg Chardonnay 2025
If you love Chardonnay with a little richness, plenty of personality and some serious winemaking credentials, Sorrenberg is going to be right up your street. Hailing from the beautiful hills of Beechworth, Victoria, this is one of those wines that reminds you just how impressive Australian Chardonnay can be. Wild yeast fermentation in French oak, full malolactic fermentation and extended time on lees give this wine its wonderfully layered personality. The nose is bursting with white peach, ripe nectarine and delicate citrus blossom, with a lovely touch of toasted oak adding another dimension. On the palate, it's all about that gorgeous balance between richness and freshness, with juicy stone fruit wrapped in a creamy, beautifully textured mouthfeel. Gentle oak spice, subtle nuttiness and a fine mineral edge bring complexity without stealing the spotlight. There's a real energy to the wine, with vibrant acidity keeping everything lively despite its generous, rounded character. The finish is long, elegant and wonderfully persistent, leaving behind layers of stone fruit, citrus and savoury complexity. A Chardonnay with plenty to say, although it's in no particular hurry to reveal all its secrets. Give it a little time in the cellar and you'll be handsomely rewarded.
