Rippon Mature Vine Pinot Noir 2022

From the windswept escarpment overlooking Lake Wānaka, this Mature Vine Pinot Noir from Rippon 2022 captures the essence of its schist-rich terroir: ruby-glinting in the glass, it opens with wild strawberry, dark cherry, violet petal and a whisper of dried herb and forest floor. The palate is elegant but confidently built — bright red and darker berry fruits are framed by chalky tannins, fresh acidity and a fine mineral backbone that carries the finish. Practiced biodynamic farming and minimal winemaking intervention let the vine age and site speak clearly. It’s drinking beautifully now but has the structure and poise to evolve gracefully over the next decade and beyond.
