Handcrafted at the historic Glen Ewin Estate in the Adelaide Hills, this gorgeous little aperitif is a true celebration of locally grown figs. With thousands of fig trees calling the estate home, it's fair to say these guys know a thing or two about their favourite fruit. The figs are gently poached to capture their natural sweetness, fragrance and earthy character before being blended with spirit and carefully macerated. The result is a beautifully rich, golden-hued aperitif bursting with luscious fig jam, ripe quince, raisins and golden honey. There's a lovely depth to the palate, with a silky, rounded texture and layers of dried fruit that just keep on giving. A touch of earthy complexity balances the sweetness, while the long, luxurious finish has all the charm of a beautifully aged Muscat. Rich, indulgent and wonderfully aromatic, yet surprisingly elegant, this is one seriously impressive little creation. Whether poured over ice or enjoyed slowly as a digestif, it's the sort of bottle that makes you wonder why figs don't get more attention.
