Pieropan Amarone Vigna Garzon 2019
In their words - Amarone is the flagship wine of Valpolicella and represents an exciting challenge for the Pieropan Company. This wine was born from the family's desire to interpret in 'Pieropan style' the unique terroir of Valpolicella, realising the dream of an important wine, rich and structured, but also fine and elegant, a distinctive feature of Pieropan wines.
Hand-picking into small boxes during last week of September. (In years with unfavorable weather conditions it is not produced.)
The grapes are dried naturally for two-three months and then manual selected before beeing destemmed and softly crushed. The free-run-juice is fermented at 23-24°C for approximately 30 days with a daily pumping over and punching down.
It ages in french oak tonneaux of 500 l for, at least, 36 months, followed by one year of aging in vitrified concrete tanks and one year in bottle before the release.
Intense and deep, ruby red colour. Characterful wine with notes of black cherries, plums and blackberry jam; dark chocolate, leather, toasted coffee, complex spicyness of black pepper, cinnamon, juniper berries and cloves. A refreshing balsamic end. Complex and rounded, with a powerful structure and a lovely freshness on the finish. A wine with plenty
of character whit great ageing potential.
It makes an excellent partner for game dishes, grilled or braised meat, powerfully flavoured and mature cheeses.
