Pheasant's Tears Rkatsiteli 2022
Crafted from Rkatsiteli grapes cultivated in the Pheasant’s Tears vineyards in Tibaani, thistextural, skinsy wine embodies complexity and depth. Fermented with 100% skins and stems in kvevri for three weeks, then aged for seven months, it reveals aromas of fresh citrus, raw honey, and toasted grain with fresh, clean flavours of green apple, apricot, and zesty acidity, balanced by a dry, savoury finish.
Established in 2005 in the Kakheti region of Georgia, Pheasant’s Tears is the brainchild of John Wurdeman and Gela Patalishvili. Inspired by Georgia’s ancient Polyphonic songs, John and Gela embarked on a mission to revive the country's rare endemic grape varieties. Their vineyards are managed organically, with grapes hand-picked in the morning to express the site's terroir. Utilizing traditional methods, grapes are crushed by foot and fermented in clay kvevris buried in sand, with no oak, fining, or filtration involved.
