Liz Heidenreich Watervale Riesling 2023

Watervale Riesling has a particular kind of energy, and this 2023 from Liz Heidenreich is full of it. Almost water-clear with a green glint, it jumps from the glass with lime, lemon, Granny Smith apple and the classic talc-and-wet-stone character of Clare Valley Riesling.

The palate is tight, dry and beautifully focused. Lemon zest and Bickford’s lime meet steely acidity, chalky texture and a long, flinty finish. It is made for Coffin Bay oysters or simply cooked King George whiting, and will be equally rewarding enjoyed young or carefully cellared. Awarded 93 points by Mike Bennie for Halliday Wine Companion, this is a precise, refreshing Riesling with serious value and plenty of life ahead.
