Jean Foillard Morgon Cote du Py 2023 1.5L

If Beaujolais had a Mount Rushmore, Côte du Py would be carved into it — and Foillard would be waving from the top. From old vines rooted in granite and schist, this Morgon legend is as close to soulful as Gamay gets. Wild cherry, crushed stone, and violets swirl together with that signature Foillard silkiness — a texture so smooth, it could moonlight as jazz. It’s mineral, precise, and finishes like a story you wish had one more chapter. No frills, no makeup — just pure, beautiful wine made by a master who lets the vineyard do the talking.

Critics thoughts - The 2023 Morgon Côte du Py comes from several parcels of granite and schistous soils with many centurion vines. This has a wonderful, very complex bouquet with exquisite delineation: crushed stone filters through dark berry fruit alongside hints of ash and light stony scents. The sapid and vivacious palate has filigree tannins, a silver thread of acidity, and a touch of cracked black pepper towards the long finish. This is one of the best Morgon's you can buy...but that's old news. 94/100  By Neal Martin
