Henschke Henry's Seven Shiraz Grenache Blend 2014
This elegant blend of 60% Shiraz, 24% Grenache, 8% Mataro, and 8% Viognier pays homage to Henry Evans, who planted the first vineyard in Keyneton in 1853. The Viognier is co-fermented with the Shiraz, while the Grenache and Mataro are fermented separately before being matured in seasoned French hogsheads for 10 months. The wine presents a deep, dark purple hue with fragrant aromas of dark raspberry, liquorice, and dark plum, laced with subtle incense and dried apricot notes. The palate is medium-bodied, soft, and supple, offering rich flavours of dark raspberry, liquorice, and plum, with velvety tannins and a lingering, spicy finish. Drinkable for the next 4-5 years, with an alcohol content of 14%.
