Domaine Henri Boillot Volnay 1er Cru Les Chevrets 2023
The "Les Chevrets" Pinot Noir is seductive on the nose with a firm structure.
Importers thoughts - In one generation, Henri Boillot has dramatically increased the quality of his Domaine wines and created a boutique négoce of the highest reputation. The wines, honed by Henri’s prodigious talent, display such a high level of detail and complexity that it is fair to say that they are among the very best representatives of Burgundy’s finest. The Volnay 1er Cru “Les Chevrets” vineyard is located on the border of Meursault opposite the “Clos des Santenots”. The vines are, on average, 25 years old.
The Volnay 1er Cru has a strong flavoured nose with notes of earth, dark berry, smoke and liquorice. The fruit is bright and very expressive. This is a deep Pinot Noir, perfectly reflecting its fine terroir. The palate is seductive and fruity with a firm mineral structure and long finish. It can be paired with roast chicken, game and hard cheese. It can be enjoyed now by decanting it 40 minutes before serving or it can be cellared up until 2025 and beyond. 100% Pinot Noir.
Critics thoughts - A fine crimson purple. A little fresher than the Frémiets, with pure red fruit, cherry and raspberry, a little more mouth-filling, stays youthful all the way through, very well mastered, an impressive Chevrets. 92-94 points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy.
