Greenock Creek Grenache 2024
In our words- It's like diving into a bag of red frogs! Heaps of jubey red fruit and soft plush tannins. Subtle spice on the finish, an absolute delight.
Sourced from a single east-facing block at Moppa, the low-yielding vines sit in thin brown loam over ancient marble and ironstone. Raspberry, mulberry and red jube lead the charge, joined by rose petals, dried flowers, white pepper and a lovely savoury, earthy edge. There’s good concentration through the palate without it ever becoming heavy, with juicy red fruit wrapped around fine, powdery tannins. Whole berries are retained during fermentation to keep the fruit bright and vibrant before the wine is basket pressed. Eight months in seasoned French and American oak adds a little spice and structure without getting in the way of the Grenache. Fresh, fragrant and beautifully put together, with enough muscle underneath all that pretty fruit to suggest there’s plenty more to come.
