Francois Rousset-Martin Vin de France ‘Barbe Fleurie’ Gamay 2024
François Rousset-Martin steps outside his beloved Jura for this little beauty, heading to the celebrated slopes of Fleurie in Beaujolais. Sourced from the high-altitude Poncié vineyard, where distinctive rocky soils help shape the wine's character, this is Gamay at its most charming and energetic. Fermented in stainless steel with 50% whole bunches, the wine is all about freshness, purity and effortless drinkability. The nose is wonderfully fragrant, bursting with juicy raspberries, red cherries, dark berries and delicate florals, with a little spice thrown in for good measure. The palate is light on its feet, offering bright red fruit, lively acidity and beautifully soft, barely noticeable tannins. There's a lovely mineral edge running through the wine, leading to a crisp, refreshing finish. Elegant, playful and dangerously easy to enjoy, this is a cracking example of just how delicious Gamay can be.
