Fiorini Chianti Superiore DOCG 2022

If you're after a proper taste of Tuscany without having to raid the holiday fund, this little Chianti is an absolute winner. Fiorini has nailed everything we love about classic Italian Sangiovese- bright fruit, rustic charm and that unmistakable savoury personality. There's a gorgeous mix of ripe red cherries, dark berries and fragrant violets, with dried herbs, pencil shavings and a little dusty Tuscan earth thrown in for good measure. The palate is beautifully medium-bodied, with juicy cherry fruit sitting comfortably alongside earthy spice and subtle woodland notes. A lovely softness through the middle gives the wine a silky, generous feel, while those classic Sangiovese tannins add just the right amount of grip. Fresh acidity keeps everything lively, balancing the darker savoury characters and giving the wine a wonderfully elegant finish. It's charmingly old-school, refreshingly unpretentious and packed with the sort of character that makes Chianti so easy to love. A cracking little Tuscan red that seriously overdelivers on personality. Sometimes the simple pleasures really are the best.
