Gunderloch Rothenberg GG Riesling 2024 (AO)

This is Riesling is powerful, precise and absolutely humming with energy. White peach, ripe tangerine and pink grapefruit dance on the palate, with flint, peppery herbs and a lovely smoky mineral edge underneath. There’s plenty of concentration here, bright acidity keeps everything racing along. The fruit comes from the steep red-slate slopes of the Rothenberg, giving the wine that wonderful mix of richness, spice and stony tension. Spontaneous fermentation and patient ageing in large oak allow the vineyard to do most of the talking. The palate is juicy and beautifully detailed, moving from ripe citrus and stone fruit into savoury herbs and fine phenolics. The finish is salty, pithy, incredibly long and the sort that has you immediately going back for another look. A seriously impressive dry Riesling that manages to be powerful, elegant and completely alive at the same time.
