Jean-Marc Roulot Liqueur d'Abricot (Apricot Liqueur) 500ml

In their words - The Roulot family has a long history making exquisite fruit Eaux de Vie and, more recently, fruit liqueur. They were granted distilling permits in 1879. Today, Jean-Marc Roulot continues the tradition whilst enabling evolution and improvements.

Ā

Jean-Marc Roulot buys the Bergeron apricots from star RhĆ“ne Valley producer Jean-Louis Chave in Mauves. These apricots are among the best in France and here, nurtured by Mr Chave; their quality is further pronounced. Once harvested at the right time with Jean-Marc’s eye for fruit ripeness, the apricots are pitted and infused for a month in a neutral spirit. When deemed ready, the liqueur is made at 25% by vol. with a sugar content of 180g/ litre.

Ā

On the nose, the apricot flavours shine through from fresh, primaryĀ fruit to more fleshy notes to the structure of the pip flavours. TheĀ nose is powerful and refined with a sophisticated fragrance. On theĀ palate, the strength is appealing, showcasing the diverse aromas ofĀ the Bergeron apricot and finishes nicely and light footed. It can beĀ served by itself, chilled in a big balloon glass.

Ā

Critics thoughts - The Liqueur d’Abricot is made from a single variety of apricot from Bergerac and done withĀ macerated fruit only. It offers a huge explosion of sweet red and orange fruits, rose petal,Ā cinnamon and mint. It has about 160 grams of residual sugar and yet it comes across as less sweetĀ and also airier in texture. I find it absolutely alluring.Ā 93 points Antonio Galloni, Vinous
