Cantina di Dolianova Prendas Vermentino 2024
Sunshine in a bottle, Sardinian-style! This 100% Vermentino dazzles with pale straw hues, floral aromas, and a fresh, fruity vibe. A zippy acidity leads to a smooth, slightly bitter finish that’s oh-so characteristic of the region. Light, vibrant, and packed with personality—this is Italian elegance at its best.
Our thoughts - Cantine di Dolianova is an historic cooperative founded in 1949 on the island of Sardinia. The Prendas line of wines are produced with a specific aim of selling to restaurants and boutique retailers, as production is not voluminous for supermarket retailers. The vineyard sources for the Prendas Vermentino are medium textured clay-limestone (Miocene) in the area that shares the cooperatives namesake. Typically low to mid slope in a sub-arid climate. 100% Vermentino. Post fermentation the wine rests on fine-lees (sur-lie) for 45 days to impart texture and complexity before bottling. This is textbook sardinian vermentino with floral and citrus aromatics (look for apples, honeysuckle and mandarin) + a saline acid backbone. Typically for the region there should be a slightly bitter almond finish. This combination makes the wine a perfect pairing with seafood (one of the primary cuisines of the region). Michael Morgan
