Cédric Bouchard, Roses de Jeanne La Haute Lemblé, Blanc de Blancs 2012

“Working with the lowest yields in Champagne and fashioning some of the region’s greatest wines from vineyards that no one had ever heard of, he has always been a perfectionist in every sense of the word”
William Kelley (Wine Advocate)

Critics thoughts - The 2012 La Haute Lemblé Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay Millésime (disgorged in April 2016) has a deep, rich and super ripe Chardonnay bouquet, with chalk and a hint of cassis. On the palate, this is a very pure and elegant, but also rich Blanc de Blancs with a long, dense and complex finish. It would be too rich as an aperitif, but perfect with white meat and fish. The 2012 Blanc de Blancs La Haute-Lemblé is the most nuanced and understated of these Champagnes. It is also quite closed and not fully expressive. That should not be an issue in another year or two. Scents of citrus peel, white flowers and slate build into the precise, finely cut finish. Simply put, the 2012 Haute-Lemblé is dazzling. Don't miss it! Disgorged: April 2016. No dosage.
