Basket Range Banksia Pinot Noir 2023
Sholto Broderick's Basket Range Pinot Noir is a site-sensitive wine crafted from two adjacent blocks, both predominantly north-facing to capture the afternoon sun. The earlier-picked fruit, known for its prettiness and tension, underwent a gentle fermentation process. This Pinot Noir showcases notes of bramble and forest floor, with a delicate tannin structure that adds to its overall elegance and complexity.
In the late 1970s, Phillip Broderick, a lawyer by trade, purchased a property in Basket Range, Adelaide Hills, and planted a small vineyard with Bordeaux varieties. Alongside his wife Mary, they raised their sons, Louis and Sholto, on the vineyard. In 2016, Sholto took over, managing the now 4-hectares of vines, organically cultivating Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, a small amount of Saperavi (but mostly Chardonnay).
