Scorpo Pinot Gris
From the volcanic red soils of Merricks North, this Scorpo Estate Pinot Gris 2023 comes to the glass with a pale yellow-copper glow and whispers of pear, apricot and green apple. Gently whole-bunch pressed and left unclarified, it’s fermented mostly in old French oak with a subtle portion in concrete, resting on gross lees for over five months. The palate is rich yet finely balanced: the fruit’s generous—juicy pear and stone-fruit—while texture from lees and oak adds creamy depth without overwhelming lightness. Fresh acidity cuts through, giving lift, and a touch of spice and stone minerality lingers on a long, compelling finish. You can drink now for its vivid fruit and silkiness, or cellar to see how it gains even more nuance.
