Patrick Sullivan Black Sands Chardonnay 2023

Single vineyard Chardonnay from the Western Victorian Heywood Vineyard where the soils are rife with black volcanic sand layered over white limestone. This gives the wine a unique minerality and earthiness. Certainly an interesting expression, with notes of lemon, orange, peaches and nectarines as well as warm brioche and sweet honey.

The fruit is hand harvested and whole cluster crushed into the press before draining. Fermented in 30% new oak over 3 weeks, followed by complete malolactic fermentation.

The 2023 has distinct aromas of lemon rind, marmalade, brioche and marzipan. With a full bodied palate of fresh Nectarine and aromatic orange blossom. Juicy, creamed limes and well-structured persistent length. Full of life and a truly enjoyable glass of wine.
