The Standish Wine Company

The Standish Wine Company produces unequivocally revered wines, building a cult following since its inception in 1999. These rare gems are only available through an exclusive mailing list, and they sell out within hours. To illustrate their demand, private tastings are booked out until after Good Friday, 2024.

Dan Standish, a sixth-generation grape grower, founded the winery on his family’s land in South Australia, where his ancestors have cultivated grapes since 1848. Dan's journey in winemaking took him from Torbreck to vineyards in Sonoma, Napa, Rioja, and the Rhône Valley. His particular affinity for the Rhône is reflected in his wine "The Relic." When Dan acquired a plot of his parents' 96-year-old Shiraz vineyard in 1999, he began crafting wines from some of the world's oldest vines, producing grapes of unparalleled quality.

The Standish Wine Company employs biodynamic viticultural practices, blending ancient techniques with modern science. Small batches of meticulously tended and harvested grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for two years in top-quality French oak. The resulting wines are not your typical heavy-hitting Barossa reds. Instead, they emphasize finesse, structure, and the distinctiveness of their terroir, reminiscent of the great estates of France.

Dan's reputation as the "reigning King of the Barossa" is well-deserved. The wines, celebrated for their complexity and elegance, are a testament to his dedication and expertise. Despite their scarcity, we are thrilled to offer these coveted wines to our customers.

Dan's hands-on experience, from pruning vines at a young age to mastering winemaking in renowned regions, has culminated in a collection of wines that are rich, profound, and nuanced.
