Sheer Madness brings together three varieties that understand one another very well. Grenache supplies the perfume, Shiraz the dark-fruited centre and Mourvèdre the savoury grip, all drawn from the sandy soils and old-vine country of Blewitt Springs.

Blackberry and plum lead, with juicy red berries, violet, pepper and liquorice filling the gaps. The tannins have a softly gritty feel that gives the wine shape without spoiling its generosity. Full of McLaren Vale warmth and swagger, but assembled with more care than the name lets on
