Sentio Beechworth Chardonnay 2023

Fruit sourced from two vineyards planted in the '90s on classic Ordovician soils of mudstone, shale, and granite. The handpicked grapes are basket-pressed and fermented on lees, then aged in a combination of large-format oak foudre and barrique. The result is a wine with intense fruit integrity and vibrant character from the cool vintage. Incredible texture, subtle oak influence, and flavours of wheat, pears, cooked apples, hay, cedar, and woodsy spices, with signature Chardonnay grilled peach at the center. The vineyards, located at altitudes of 400-500m with varied aspects and annual rainfall of 800-900mm, reflect the diverse conditions of Victoria. Winemaker Chris Catlow, who has extensive experience in both Victoria and Burgundy, focuses on creating wines that express their vineyard and regional origins, inviting drinkers to understand each varietal through its unique terroir.
