SC PANNELL BLEWITT SPRINGS GRENACHE 2024

In their words- "Medium-full depth of colour with a slight trace of purple remaining in the rim, and the bouquet shows detailed dried and fresh herb aromas with a lift of Asian spices including fivespice. The wine is medium-full bodied and saviry with drying powdery tannins and suggestions of raspberry coulis and Campari. Serious grenache with potential for further improvement with ageing." - 93 Points, Huon Hooke, The Real Review

In our words- If you're wondering why everyone is getting so excited about McLaren Vale Grenache, this little beauty is a very good place to start. Steve Pannell knows his way around the sandy soils of Blewitt Springs, and this is a wonderfully vibrant expression of what makes the region so special. There's a gorgeous rush of juicy raspberries, wild strawberries and pomegranate, with a lovely splash of satsuma plum adding extra charm. Then things get a little more exotic, with rose petals, Turkish delight, sweet spice and a cheeky little hint of musk. The palate is bright, crunchy and bursting with red fruit, balanced by a refreshing citrus-like zing that keeps everything beautifully lively. Fine, delicate tannins provide just enough structure without getting in the way of all that delicious fruit. It's fragrant, silky and wonderfully approachable, with a lovely savoury edge and a finish that leaves you wanting another sip. Nothing heavy or overcomplicated here, just beautifully crafted Grenache with plenty of personality. A cracking introduction to the magic of Blewitt Springs and another reminder that Steve Pannell really does know how to make Grenache sing.
