Mayer Close Planted Pinot Noir 2024
Critics thoughts - A little Gilbert Gottfried here – fun, edgy, a touch shrill, a bit heightened in energy, but well balanced in the end. Perhaps drinking this wine right now is ‘too soon’ too.
Snappy, tart, tense and bright. Red cherry, cranberry drink, pomegranate juice, big dashes of white pepper, green capsicum, faint game meat leaving a little slosh and softness in the vibrancy inherent here. A sheath of sand-storm tannins lending a little tension, the mainstay that the wine feels tight then a little splash of juice to finish, with some powdery grip helping things out. Attractive drinking. Mike Bennie 94 points Winefront
