Grosset Nereus Shiraz Nero 2023
From the cooler corners of Clare Valley, the Nereus offers depth without the drama. Expect black cherry and dark plum leading the charge, followed by a swirl of peppery spice and a savoury, almost brooding edge (there’s some Nero d’Avola in the mix, and it’s loving the spotlight). It's polished yet wild-spirited, with silky tannins and enough freshness to keep things interesting. A bit mysterious, a lot delicious.
In their words - Of all recent releases, this is the big improver: riotously perfumed, wilder than before, more generous than previously, more apparently nero (yet the blend remains shiraz/ nero), and slightly more gripping in the mid-palate. The decision to plant these two varieties in the same vineyard and combine them has resulted in a pleasingly satisfying mid-weight red, ready to be drunk while youthful and vibrant. Matured in French oak barriques (45% new) for 18 months.
88% shiraz and 12% nero d’avola
