Frederick Stevenson Morbinos 2020
From cult producer Frederick Stevenson; 46% Malvasia Istriana, 39% Malvasia Bianca and 15% Vermentino picked during lockdowns at Parish Hill in the picturesque Adelaide Hills. The grapes were left on skins for 4-5 days before being gently pressed into seasoned oak barrels, where they rested undisturbed for nine months.
Designed to be textural and highlight the vibrant fruit characteristics of Malvasia without veering into the realm of orange or overly dry wines, this blend offers a symphony of flavours. Luscious notes of passionfruit and green mango are accented by exotic spices, buttery scotch finger biscuits, tangy lemon curd, rich nougat, and a hint of citrus oil.
Malvasia Bianca adds a lively acidity and a spectrum of sweet tropical fruits, acting as the life of the party, while Malvasia Istriana, more reserved and complex, reveals its intriguing layers over time. Together, they create a harmonious and captivating wine experience.
