Henschke Cyril Henschke Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
The 2022 release of Cyril is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, named for the Henschke patriarch Cyril, who first planted Eden Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1960's.
Critics thoughts - “The 2022 Cyril Henschke Cabernet Sauvignon leads with spicy red fruit, dusty baking spices and layers of dried herbs, akin to bay leaf and oregano. The tannins here are profuse yet very fine. It feels leafy and earthy, medium- bodied and fresh. I appreciate the varietal definition and delicacy here. The cooler vintage that was 2022 has birthed a tranche of wines of great delicacy and "fluffiness"/freshness. They are wonderful wines—I like the vintage so much.” 95 POINTS - ERIN LARKIN, THE WINE ADVOCATE
“It’s more angular with less in the middle than the panoply of single- vineyard 2022 Shirazes, though it’s a lovely backstory. More of a wake-up call than the night cap presented by those 2022 Shirazes. But with the same long finish and carefully managed tannins.” 1 7 /20 – JANCIS ROBINSON MW, JANCISROBINSON.COM
“Thrilling, bright and with exceptional direction and clarity(or perhaps clarety), Cyril is akin to a stained-glass window, with light streaming through. Through out the pin-sharp palate, there are green hints, leafy whispers, stunning levity and amazing persistence. The tannins are skinsy, lightly scouring and frictive. This is a fascinating Cyril, and it will live long as a true, middle-weight wine!” 18.5 /20 – MATTHEW JUKES, MATTHEWJUKES.COM
