This 2002 Giaconda Cabernet is a quiet achiever — less of a showstopper than its Chardonnay sibling, but undeniably a class act in its own right. Rich and layered, it opens with blackcurrant and cassis, then unfurls into dark chocolate, cedar, mint, tobacco and that earthy forest-floor thing that collectors adore. There's a seductive perfume here too — violets, blackberries, crushed leaves — balanced by fine-grained tannins and a graceful, claret-like structure. Smooth, composed and cellar-worthy, this vintage has matured beautifully, offering power without showiness, complexity without clutter.

Very tight structure with gripping tannin is a feature of the palate. This is a real thoroughbred - long and composed.
