Edouard Confuron Coteaux Bourguignons 2023
Importers thoughts - The Coteaux Bourguignons is very juicy and jammy in a good way. 66% Pinot Noir, 33% Gamay.
Edouard Confuron hails from the 6 generation family Domaine, Confuron-Gindre, located on Rue de La Tâche. While working with his father, François Confuron-Gindre, he has slowly – and successfully, created his own distinct style of wines now presented through his own micro-domaine. He handpicks grapes from a selection of his father's plots across Vosne-Romanee, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Nuits St Georges. The Coteaux Bourguignon hails from a few plots, located at several different locations throughout Nuits-St-Georges and Vosne-Romanée.
Critics thoughts - Gamay from Morey and Pinot from Vosne, approximately half and half, aged in barrel with older wood. Mid ruby colour, beautifully perfumed on the nose, very clean, lighter extraction, all destemmed, but an attractive juicy finish on cherry fruit. Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy.
Ripe, earth and peppery dark berry fruit aromas lead to nicely rich and voluminous flavours that possess a succulent mid-palate while exhibiting good punch on the rustic and sneaky long finale. Good quality for what this is. Allen Meadows, Burghound.
